Winchester City Manager Mike Flynn and Planning Director Rob Jeffries will disÂcuss a proÂposÂal for a moraÂtoÂriÂum on data cenÂters when the Board of Commissioners meets this afternoon.
In a mesÂsage postÂed on the City of Winchester’s comÂmuÂniÂty inforÂmaÂtion Facebook page, Flynn explained that the moraÂtoÂriÂum is needÂed because of a lack of local zonÂing disÂtricts and regÂuÂlaÂtions perÂtainÂing to data centers.
Jeffries said today that most surÂroundÂing comÂmuÂniÂties have put in place moraÂtoÂriÂums, so Clark County would be more likeÂly to attract data cenÂters if it didn’t have its own.
The action should allow the planÂning staff and comÂmisÂsion time to review curÂrent regÂuÂlaÂtions and zonÂing laws and make recÂomÂmenÂdaÂtions regardÂing future data cenÂter proposals.
The meetÂing is at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
