About us

WinCity Voices is all about con­nec­tion, con­ver­sa­tion, and com­mu­ni­ty. Launched in November 2021 as WinCity News & Views and reboot­ed in October 2022, we are a group of vol­un­teers who love cre­at­ing engag­ing con­tent in all its forms. Our work con­sists most­ly of short sto­ries about ideas, hap­pen­ings, peo­ple, places, and more. We also fea­ture fic­tion and art of all kinds. 

We are not a source of break­ing news or in-depth cov­er­age. For that, we sup­port our local media sources, such as The Winchester Sun and local radio sta­tion WWKY. 

WinCity Voices has no “pay­wall” and no adver­tis­ing. All con­tent is free for every­one. This is an all-vol­un­teer oper­a­tion — no one is get­ting paid to work for us. It’s a labor of love.

WinCity Voices believes sto­ry­telling in all of its forms — the visu­al, the writ­ten, the spo­ken — is vital to mean­ing­ful change. Our sto­ry­tellers pro­voke thought, pro­mote hap­pen­ings, and pro­vide enter­tain­ment. Our mis­sion is to cel­e­brate cre­ativ­i­ty, fos­ter informed con­ver­sa­tion, and inspire the peo­ple of Winchester and beyond to build con­nec­tion and community.

We com­mit to offer­ing a wel­com­ing and open envi­ron­ment for sto­ry­tellers to be authen­tic, brave, hon­est, and vulnerable.

We believe curios­i­ty begets cre­ativ­i­ty. We ques­tion, learn, lis­ten, nur­ture pas­sion and joy, and encour­age artis­tic expression.

A clean, safe, nat­ur­al envi­ron­ment is essen­tial to the well-being of our cit­i­zens. We pro­mote aware­ness and stew­ard­ship of the earth, cel­e­brate nat­ur­al beau­ty, and encour­age respon­si­ble and respect­ful inter­ac­tion with one anoth­er and the planet.
