Winchester has become a sweet spot for new businesses, ranging from comic stores to ice cream shops as the town has welcomed some new establishments in recent months.

On Main Street, a comic and board game shop has recently opened its doors at a new location. JB’s Comic Emporium has everything from board games to comics to book nook crafts.

After opening their doors on July 1 of this year, the comic shop has more room to expand their inventory of new releases as well as maintain a back issue inventory. They advertise their full stock in a post online.

“We are a full-service comic book store in Winchester, KY! We also have collectible toys, book nook puzzles, and crochet plushies created by local artist Kari Crochets! We also have a great selection of vintage video game consoles and games! Our new location features a large space to try out our growing board game library!” the business posted in a message.

Hosting occasional board game nights and being integrated with Main Street festivities, JB’s Comic Emporium is hoping to connect with the community while selling comics.

With a menu that includes both alcoholic and non-alcoholic ice creams, Joe Brett Langley has devoted years of his life to turning ice cream on its head. Partnered with Bluegrass Creamery, Joe Brett’s Ice Cream offers a wide selection of both gelato and ice cream.

Having started the business back in 2018, Joe Brett’s Ice cream had to take an unfortunate hiatus during COVID before opening its doors in Winchester in August 2025.

Having started by selling just 40 cases of “adult ice cream” in liquor stores to now having a full brick-and-mortar shop, Joe Brett’s Ice Cream is also hoping to begin selling their product in Liquor Barn soon.

With a non-alcoholic menu that features many flavors of gelato and ice cream, Joe Brett’s Ice Cream is a great place for families to enjoy a nice frozen treat. And with a boozed-up menu featuring ice cream mixed with rum, bourbon, and moonshine, Joe Brett’s also has options suitable for those 21 and up.

Winchester continues to grow as a home for new and beloved businesses. Whether it is a small town business hoping to spread its wings, or an already established company hoping to plant seeds in this town, Clark County has room for everyone.
