Peggy and I headed for the mountains of western North Carolina for a few days. We love the NC mountains and have made many trips there over the years, hiking and exploring the backroads.
The skies were cloudy for most of our time there, but overcast skies work well for landscape photography so I was not disappointed. The subdued light makes autumn colors pop and is better for waterfall photography.
It was overcast when we visited this small waterfall. I carefully made my way down the steep bank to the water’s edge and set up my tripod and camera. The water’s edge was very rocky, and the tripod was in a precarious position, as was I. If I slipped, both the camera and I would get wet.
Although we had this place all to ourselves, it is easy to imagine it as a popular swimming hole in warmer weather. Maybe we’ll go back in the summer and take a dip.
