Recent rains have got the streams and waterfalls running again, and with that I decided it was time to revisit one of my favorite regional waterfalls — Copperas Creek Falls in the Red River Gorge.
Once a little-known gem, it has become a popular hiking destination. Although there is not an official trail to it, a well-worn path leads you to it. Be warned, there are a couple dozen creek crossings, and almost the same number of logs to step over on the way there and back.
This waterfall has a small watershed so unless it’s rained a lot there won’t be much more than a trickle here.
