A Doggerel Love Poem

|

Estimated time to read:

1–2 minutes

Doggerel (n) comic verse composed in irregular rhythm.

Chair ran away with Spoon
Leaving Fork disconsolate
But the consulate’s Chef set things right
he proclaimed Fork, “King” and Fork’s
chair the “king’s throne.” Still Fork tripped
over Chair’s legs bending his tines as he fell
So, then there were
too many tiny
tine errors
for Fork not to notice.

Eventually, Chair and Fork returned
to the consulate
disconsolate together
indeed, there was no joy
that night for Chair was scratched
Fork was bent
and only Spoon
could find solace in
Whole-
ness.
