A Moment

|

Estimated time to read:

1–2 minutes

In the fading dark of a new day
I arise from my well-bed
To stand on tottering legs
Three times older than I ever expected
Them (and me) to be.

Walking into the bulb-lighted
Hallway I stumble over a box & curse
My prosperity-induced pain
That goes away almost instantly
Leaving behind a crotchety me.

In the bathroom I weigh myself—
262—two pounds above my
Hernia surgery-eligible weight:
No breakfast: A walk instead.
Another joy-filled day, no doubt, ahead.
