Jeff’s Playlist: The Gregg Allman Tour

After the suc­cess of Laid Back, Allman went out on tour in 1974. I remem­ber read­ing in Rolling Stone about this album and won­der­ing if it would be any good. The crit­ics were talk­ing about all the orches­tra­tion and the inclu­sion of Cowboy, anoth­er south­ern band.

It was an expen­sive dou­ble album, but after much con­sid­er­a­tion and scrap­ing up some mon­ey, I decid­ed I had to have it. I final­ly found it at my local record store, and it was mon­ey — and time — well spent. My, how times have changed in the music col­lec­tion busi­ness, as today find­ing and buy­ing music requires just a few clicks on a keyboard. 

I real­ly like it, and if you like the Allman Brothers, I think you’ll like it too. Merry Christmas.
