The Allman Brothers — Eat A Peach — “Mountain Jam”

I love long songs. I first noticed this back in 1972 when Eat a Peach was released. The song ”Mountain Jam” took up two sides of the vinyl record. To play it all the way through, I had to “splice” it onto a cas­sette tape and lis­ten on a Sony Walkman. But it was a rough splice, and my tim­ing was a hair off, so the music stut­tered between sides one and two. With CDs final­ly arriv­ing, I had the lux­u­ry of lis­ten­ing to this song all the way through.

Over the next sev­er­al weeks, I am going to focus on long songs that I have enjoyed through­out my life.

I think “Mountain Jam” is a per­fect song. Give it a lis­ten, I think you might agree.
