making food hard to find.
So birds and squirrels
forage in flocks and squads
for seeds and nuts spread
on a thickly iced drive.
Hungry gatherers feasting.
Meanwhile I sit inside

Warm, grateful neither to scurry nor flurry
about searching out food
Instead, our food is steps away:
Hunting reduced to searching
a fridge to feed the two
animals on display behind glass.
