Celebrating National Friends of Libraries Week

This is National Friends of Libraries Week. Angela Turner, Director of the Clark County Public Library, sent this let­ter to the edi­tor of The Winchester Sun, which ran the let­ter on October 19. We are repub­lish­ing Angela’s let­ter today. 

Dear Editor:

The Clark County Public Library now has a Friends of the Library group which was estab­lished in 2023. The Friends are a ded­i­cat­ed group of peo­ple who love our library and we are grate­ful for their support.

The Friends have start­ed a read­ing pro­gram at the library to offer assis­tance to Clark County stu­dents read­ing below grade lev­el. As well as vol­un­teer­ing at our mul­ti­ple book sales this past year, the Friends have also been busy plan­ning fundrais­er events begin­ning with a SK on October 26, 2024, at Lykins Park.

October 20–26, 2024 is the 19^th annu­al National Friends of Libraries Week, and it’s the per­fect oppor­tu­ni­ty for the staff and trustees of the Clark County Public Library to give our Friends a big shout out for all they do to make a pos­i­tive impact on our Library.

We know the Friends are always look­ing for new mem­bers and vol­un­teers. They have so much fun while work­ing to enhance our com­mu­ni­ty. Stop by the Reference Desk at the Library to join. Joining the Friends of the Library is a ter­rif­ic way to meet new peo­ple, give back to our com­mu­ni­ty, and make the library even better.
