The Clark County Public Library’s new bookmobile has officially completed its first full route and is already expanding access to library resources throughout the community.
“It’s going really well,” said Grace Quisenberry, the bookmobile driver and outreach librarian. “We have checked out, I believe, around 200 to 300 books so far in the last two or three weeks.”
Quisenberry explained that having this mobile resource has helped increase the number of people in the community signing up for library memberships.
“We’ve been signing a ton of people up for (library) cards; I just had to mail out about 10 cards this morning from this last week,” said Quisenberry.
The bookmobile has also provided access to library resources for people who may not have been able to reach the Clark County Public Library’s main location.
“I grew up here, and I grew up in the county,” said Quisenberry. “So it’s been exciting being able to go out [and] talk to people and give access to people that can’t drive, whether that’s due to medical reasons or just not having access to a car.”
The bookmobile offers a large variety of book genres for all ages. The bookmobile does take requests and, according to Quisenberry, would be happy to carry the books that people specifically want.
They also recently went fine-free, with a 4‑week checkout period and two opportunities to renew, for a total of 3 months per book.

“The library is such a good resource in terms of, I mean, fiction; you can actually entertain yourself, and you don’t have to necessarily have access to television or the internet, or any of it. But also the nonfiction as well. It gives access to different bits of information,” said Quisenberry.
The main goal for the bookmobile’s future is awareness.
“I would like people in every community that we are going into to know that we are there, and know that they could take advantage of this resource that we’re offering,” said Quisenberry.
The bookmobile route covers Heritage Park, Shearer Elementary School, Legacy Grove Park, Community Park, Westwood Apartments, Quick Shop Trailer Park, CC’s Closet, Winn Avenue Market, Sequoia Village, Treehaven, Yorktowne and more places in the Clark County community.
The official schedule, through the end of August, is posted on the Clark County Public Library social media accounts, and paper copies are available on the bookmobile.
