Shrek: The Musical hits the stage this Friday

Performances of Shrek: The Musical will take place on June 12-14, 19-21, and 26-28, 2026, at the Leeds Center for the Arts.

Fairy tale crea­tures have invad­ed Leeds Center for the Arts! The sto­ry of “Shrek: the Musical” is filled with mag­ic, whim­sy, and humor. From June 12 to 28, 2026, audi­ences are invit­ed to join Leeds for a song-filled take on the clas­sic movie that’s warmed the hearts of many.

Co-direct­ed and chore­o­graphed by Ellie Miller and co-direct­ed and music direct­ed by Steve Crosby, “Shrek: the Musical” fol­lows the tale of Shrek, the ogre, as he adven­tures with his com­pan­ion, Donkey, dis­cov­er­ing love and accep­tance along the way. A tal­ent­ed cast of actors of all ages breathes life into this vivid production.

“‘Shrek: the Musical’ is going to have audi­ences laugh­ing their heads off and feel­ing uplift­ed at the same time,” said Ellie Miller, co-direc­tor and chore­o­g­ra­ph­er. “This show has a unique blend of char­ac­ters and humor that tugs at the heartstrings.”

With a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, the show fea­tures hit songs such as “Freak Flag,” “I Know It’s Today,” and “Story of My Life.” Tap danc­ing, beau­ti­ful cos­tumes, and a larg­er-than-life pup­pet ensure that there’s some­thing for every­one to enjoy!

“This is one of the most tal­ent­ed casts I’ve ever worked with,” added Steve Crosby, co-direc­tor and music direc­tor. “Everyone is putting 110% into bring­ing this show to life and mak­ing it their own, and it shows through their ener­gy onstage.”

Performances will take place on June 12–14, 19–21, and 26–28, 2026, at the Leeds Center for the Arts, locat­ed at 37 N Main St, Winchester, KY. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are avail­able for pur­chase online at www.leedscenter.org or by vis­it­ing the Leeds Center for the Arts box office one hour pri­or to showtime.
