WinCity Voices has produced an early version of what will eventually become a comprehensive citizens’ guide to local and state government for residents of Clark County. The new section, released on Jan. 22, will be expanded in the coming months.

“Civic engagement is going to be our theme for 2026,” said WinCity Voices editor and publisher Pete Koutoulas. “We want to see Clark County residents more engaged in their government. Whether that means general knowledge, attendance and engagement at government meetings, or running for office—among other things—we know that a thriving democracy depends on informed and engaged citizens.”

The new section contains valuable information about the functioning of the city, county, and (eventually) state government as they affect residents of Clark County.

“It’s very basic right now,” said Koutoulas. “But we wanted to go ahead and launch it now so our readers and become accustomed to it. In the coming months, it will be greatly expanded.”

Koutoulas added that WinCity Voices staff is also seeking feedback on other features and information its readers would like to see in this new section. There’s a link on the new page to submit ideas.

The new section can be reached by choosing the “Your Government” tab on the WinCity Voices home page.

Koutoulas is also the executive director of WinCity Voices’ parent nonprofit corporation, WinCity Media. He said the new section is only the start of a broader project to increase civic engagement in Clark County.

“The board of WinCity Media is deeply committed to this project,” Koutoulas added. “We are looking at other ways to increase residents’ involvement in local government. One idea is to help host candidates forums in coöperation with other local entities. Another is to host a series of civic engagement workshops. We are discussing these and other ideas.”

WinCity Voices will also report more on local government with the hiring of freelance reporter Randy Patrick, a seasoned journalist with a long list of credits, having written for and edited The Winchester Sun, Bardstown’s The Kentucky Standard, and others. WinCity Voices plans to publish candidate profiles for local and regional candidates who serve Clark County.
