Ever hear of Project 2025? If not, perhaps that’s not unusual considering that those who formulated the document have been, and are, trying desperately to keep it and its contents out of the public view.
Project 2025 is a 922-page document more precisely titled the 2025 Presidential Transition Project. It is a document put together by ultra-right-wingers and funded largely by the Federalists Society and the Heritage Foundation. The document outlines policies that should guide the next elected conservative President and his administration. Obviously, since it is labeled Project 2025, the backers of it are hoping that Trump will be the person implementing its policies.
And unless you think suggesting that this document is put together by “ultra-right-wingers” too extreme, consider some of the proposals in it.
- Allow government agencies to privatize
- Audit the budget of the VA (likely making it harder for veterans to qualify for benefits)
- Eliminate the Department of Education (Trump’s appointee, Betsy DeVos would have been happy to accomplish this and the Heritage Foundation is pushing for public funding for charter schools across the country)
- Strict federal abortion ban, including access to Mifepristone (isn’t this in strict contradiction to Trump’s perpetual claim that abortion policy is best left to the states/)
- Make contraception and birth control illegal and enforce the Comstock Act to prosecute those who send or receive contraceptives through the mail
- Allow placement of children in adoption if their home doesn’t have biological father and mother who conceived them
- Eliminate Head Start Program
- Allow schools to treat black and white students differently for the same offense
- Prevent schools from teaching CRT
- Allow workplace discrimination
- Strip authority from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
- Shrink or eliminate the Department of Homeland Security
- Remove any limitations for ICE to detain and export “aliens” (including those from other planets?)
- Allow states to opt out of the NLRB to weaken unions
- Consider all DEI initiatives to be discrimination
- Cut Medicare and Medicaid
- Stop federal funding for embryonic stem cell research
- Alter climate change regulations to favor fossil fuels (drill, baby, drill)
- Take partisan control of the DOJ, FBI, FCC and FTC
- Deploy the military for domestic law enforcement (typical third-world activity)
The Trump campaign has made efforts to disassociate itself from Project 2025, but it is plainly obvious that only a conservatively run government would ever be receptive to most of the recommendations contained in this treatise. In fact, some of those involved in fabricating Project 2025 were members of the Trump administration. It’s entirely likely that they could be brought back into another one.
If you have the time and inclination to read a 922-page document, you might find a good many other proposals as radical as these. Then you could decide if this is the type of government you want for this country.
