Time Flies

Digging around in my flat file, I unearthed this print of Emmy Lou Harris. No doubt there is a 35mm glassine sleeve in my negative safe revealing the time and place I took this shot. She painted a rose on the body of her iconic Gibson in the late 1970s. The emblem is on her guitar on the cover of her sixth album, 1979’s “Blue Kentucky Girl.”

Emmy Lou played Rupp Arena with Wille Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Leon Russell in August 1977. Maybe you were there. I likely ran into her in North Carolina when I was managing editor of an entertainment tabloid. That looks like Hank DeVito, the lap steel player in The Hot Band, behind her.

I’ll share some more pics of musicians if I summon the courage to crack open the safe.
