Downtown Winchester is growing, with new businesses popping up on Main Street. The Winchester Café, being a reason for much anticipation, is looking to open its doors in August. The eatery, in addition to being a new place to grab a quick breakfast or lunch in Clark County, will also be the location for a TV series produced by Do GOOD Entertainment.
Do GOOD Productions was founded by Valerie Smaldone and Monty Hobbs, the two individuals behind the establishment of The Winchester Café. With their projects being the recipients of multiple Telly and Dave’s Awards, they hope to take Winchester’s small-town charm and turn it into something big.
“Kentucky is a place where community and kindness are deeply rooted,” said Smaldone. “We’re honored to share these incredible stories with audiences everywhere.”
Smaldone and Hobbs plan on keeping this a community-centered production. Do GOOD Productions is partnering up with the Bluegrass Syndicate, based in Lexington, to co-produce their show, which aims to highlight organizations and individuals who are truly making a meaningful impact in the community.
Kentucky strong
To share these incredible stories, Do GOOD Productions is continuing its episodic series titled Finding Kindness. This show travels the country and shares stories rooted in authenticity, focusing on kindness that can be found in day-to-day life.
Taking the show to Kentucky, Hobbs and Smaldone hope to cater to Southern charm with the help of celebrities familiar with the Commonwealth. Launching a new season, the show will take on the title Finding Kindness: Kentucky Strong.

To showcase the rich compassion that Kentucky has to offer, the producers plan to bring celebrities to town. Stars such as Crystal Gayle are on the schedule to visit The Winchester Café and spread kindness to the community.
“I’m honored to be part of a project that celebrates kindness and community,” Gayle said. “Returning to the state where I was born for something so positive and uplifting makes it even more special.”
Gayle, known for being a Grammy Award-winning musical artist, will be visiting The Winchester Café in August, when Do GOOD Productions plans to start filming. Gayle’s appearance will not only act as a unique way to share stories about small-town Kentucky, but will also draw the attention of more individuals across the county to share how they aid the community.
“We’ve discovered remarkable people and initiatives throughout the region and can’t wait to showcase them,” Hobbs said.
While celebrities including Crystal Gale and billiards legend Earl Strickland will be visiting The Winchester Café, the heart of Finding Kindness lies within the individuals who make up Clark County.
