He answered God’s call by serving as a Benedictine monk for 16 years. After deciding to leave the monastery, he married and spent 40 years as a pastoral psychologist. He and his wife Jannette have three children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is a longtime member of the Lexington Storytellers. Today, he is blind but stays active and has written 24 books. He helps other blind veterans overcome challenges, and swims laps three days a week.
