When we launched WinCity Voices, one of our goals was to provide a means of elevating the level of discourse in our community, to give voice to those not being heard. We do this by allowing local writers and artists to express themselves under our banner.
I believe that everyone has something important to say. But not everyone considers themself a writer, painter, photographer, or poet. Not everyone wants to commit to becoming a regular contributor. But sometimes a person wants to say something in a forum that’s a bit more organized than social media.
That’s where our new feature, Your Voice comes in. We invite any Clark County resident to submit items for this feature. Do you have an idea for something needed in our community? A gripe? A compliment? Just something you need to get off your chest? Now’s your chance.
Think of Your Voice as “Letters of the Editor” for the digital age. We do have a few ground rules:
- All submissions must contain your full name, email address, street address, and phone number. (We will only publish your name, but we may need to verify your identity.)
- A good target word count is between 300 and 600 words, although we will consider any length.
- We reserve the right to edit your submission for grammar, spelling, clarity, and brevity.
- Do not include any false, inflammatory, or prejudiced language against any person.
- We reserve the right to reject any submission for any reason.
- By submitting your item, you grant us permission to publish it electronically at wincityvoices.org and to share it on our social media outlets. You also agree and understand that anything we publish may be republished by partner publications.
Send Your Voice submission to yourvoice@wincitymedia.org.
