The Voices of Winchester podcast is back with an inspiring conversation with Valerie Frost, a local advocate, Clark County mom, and recent TEDx speaker. Valerie shares the story of how she found a home in Winchester — and how her own lived experience shaped a powerful commitment to helping families be heard in the systems that affect their lives. In this episode, we explore her insights on community engagement, the challenges families face when navigating complicated systems, and what it takes to build a more inclusive community together.

Valerie is working to bridge the gap between families and institutions. As a survivor of domestic violence, she brings both courage and clarity to her advocacy, focusing on empowering families and making sure their stories are not only heard, but taken seriously.
For Valerie, local democracy extends far beyond the ballot box. It means giving families a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their neighborhoods, schools, services, and futures. That kind of engagement is essential to building a community where families can truly thrive — especially in Winchester, where Valerie is raising her children and advocating for lasting change.
“A town can look like it is thriving and still have families who feel invisible,” Valerie said. “As Winchester grows, I hope we continue asking how families already here can feel more supported, more heard, and more able to belong.”
