Pipevine Swallowtail

1–2 minutes

We have a lot of pipevine growing around our place, and right now we have a lot of pipevine swallowtails. There are often up to four at a time happily feeding on a small planting of zinnias and tall verbena near the house. Their wings are constantly moving, and they hardly ever stay at the same flower more than a few seconds. Their random flight movement as they flitter from flower to flower sometimes causes them to have to take evasive action as they nearly collide with each other mid-air.
