Looking back over the years of my life, I have realized that 1973 was a great year for my kind of music.
Albums like the following were released:
Dark Side of the Moon — Pink Floyd
Goats Head Soup — The Rolling Stones
Count Down to Ecstasy — Steely Dan
The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get — Joe Walsh
Quadrophenia — The Who
Tales From Topographic Oceans — Yes
Time Fades Away and Tonight’s the Night — Neil Young
Aladdin Sane — David Bowie
Mind Games — John Lennon
Living In A Material World — George Harrison
Houses of the Holy — Led Zeppelin
Beck, Bogert & Appice was released in 1973 and fits nicely into this list.
My friends and I loved these renditions of “Black Cat Moan” and Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.” If you haven’t heard these, you will probably agree when you do. Vocals are questionable at times, but I listen for the hard-driving bass, drums, and guitar solos. You get plenty of that here.
Bogert and Appice are from the rock band Cactus. I never was familiar with Cactus but I really do like these guys in a trio with Beck. In fact, this trio was hailed as the next supergroup after Cream and Led Zeppelin, but they only made it through one studio album and a short tour.

Again, RIP Jeff Beck.
