Earth Day celebration at Legacy Grove

The folks at Legacy Grove have announced their sec­ond annu­al Earth Day cel­e­bra­tion at Legacy Grove Park in Winchester. The event will take place on Saturday, April 23. 

The activ­i­ties begin at 9 a.m. with a lit­ter clean-up at the park; indi­vid­u­als and groups can select routes in the park and in Clark County. Litter par­tic­i­pants will be treat­ed to a grill-out from Clark County Farm Bureau and T‑shirts pro­vid­ed by Bluegrass Greensource.

Other activ­i­ties lined up from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. include:

• How to make seed bombs (Winchester Inspired by Nature)
• Recyclable crafts (Blossom Riffe, Sekisui)
• Scavenger hunt, chalk art (Legacy Grove)
• Tree iden­ti­fi­ca­tion walk (Jon Walker, Retired Forester)
• Book Walk for kids (MIsty Strain, Clark County Public Library)
• Invasive species  iden­ti­fi­ca­tion (Nancy Gift, Berea College)

There will be edu­ca­tion­al booths that include:

• Clark County Compost Facility
• Dept. of Forestry – Fire Safety
• Habitat for Humanity Can Program
• KY Riverkeepers

The morn­ing will focus on earth-friend­ly resources and earth-engag­ing activ­i­ties for all ages, and music from 4‑H Club and Possum Queens.
